Joyce and Barry Vissell

"It is so important to find, and live from, that centered place within ourselves, to connect with our own heart and with others. The inner, spiritual work is vital, but it is not enough. We need each other too. We need our family, but we also need spiritual extended family, a trusted support network. This inner and outer connection is a focus at all our workshops for participants wanting deeper levels of love and healing in their lives." — Joyce and Barry Vissell

Picture of Joyce and Barry VissellJoyce and Barry Vissell have been a couple since 1964. A nurse and medical doctor, their main interest since 1972 has been counseling and teaching and they are the authors of five deeply-moving books on relationship, family and healing:

The Shared Heart: Relationship Initiations and Celebrations

Models of Love: The Parent-Child Journey

Risk to be Healed: The Heart of Personal and Relationship Growth

The Heart's Wisdom: A Practical Guide to Growing Through Love

Meant to Be: Miraculous True Stories to Inspire a Lifetime of Love

As a result of the wide popularity and unique perspective of their books, Barry and Joyce have been sought after to present talks and workshops internationally. They have been keynote speakers and workshop leaders for many organizations, are regular guests on radio and TV, and are contributors to the "New York Times" bestselling series, Chicken Soup for the Soul.

They live with their three children, Rami, Mira, and John-Nuriel, four golden retrievers, five cats and one horse, at their home and center on a hilltop near Santa Cruz, California, where they counsel individuals and couples, and offer classes, workshops and training programs. Because they are committed to "walking their talk," so they spend as much quality time as they can cultivating their relationship with each other and with their children.

Joyce and Barry offer workshops for singles, couples, families, or for a general adult audience (individuals and couples) that range in length from one to three hours, one-day, weekend, or longer retreats of three to ten days). Also, they have practiced as therapists/counselors since 1973 and will do phone counseling/therapy.
